GOP leaders endorse superintendent law repeal

The Wyoming Republican Party Central Committee has approved a resolution endorsing the drive to repeal the state law that took power away from the state superintendent of public instruction.

The Central Committee approved the resolution on a 40-32 vote over the weekend in Buffalo.

The action is a slap at the Republican controlled state Legislature and Republican Gov. Matt Mead who approved the law during this past legislative session.

Nicholas and Alexander face off in primary for Albany County seat

In Albany County, Republican Phil Nicholas is the incumbent for Senate District 10, but will need to win a primary election if he wants to return to the state legislature.  Nicholas is in line to become the Senate majority floor leader if he wins his re-election.  His Republican primary opponent is Anne Alexander, who’s an economics professor at University of Wyoming.

Romney wins four Wyoming delegates

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney picked up four delegates in the first round of Wyoming's Republican
presidential caucuses. A fifth delegate from Wyoming went to Ron Paul.

Romney edged former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum by two votes to pick up his first Wyoming delegate in Laramie County, the state's most populous.

Big Horn, Natrona and Washakie counties also went for Romney. Republicans in Weston County near the Black Hills in the state's northeastern corner chose the delegate for Paul.
