WPR operates more
than 24 broadcast sites throughout the state. We broadcast the signal to our remote transmitter sites via satellite from our studios in Laramie.
From time to time, problems with
reception may occur. Signal interruptions may be caused for a variety of reasons including:
- Power failure at the transmitter site
- Equipment failure at the studios in Laramie or at the remote transmitter site
- Other programming related issues at the studios in Laramie
- Satellite signal interruption, usually caused by heavy snow or rain
- Other weather related interruptions
- Scheduled maintenance
WPR Engineering makes every attempt to restore service as quickly and safely as possible. In most cases we are alerted to the problem by automated monitoring equipment but occasionally there may be an outage we are not aware of. This is especially true of our 'Translator' stations (Driggs, Worland, Torrington, Dubois, Rawlins, Evanston and Lander). These 'Translator' sites do not currently have automated remote monitoring equipment.
Please feel free to contact WPR Engineering at 307-766-3531 or stoven@uwyo.edu to report any potential signal impairments. This phone number is answered 24/7 (allow at least 8 rings). E-mail is checked regularly.
We have set up a 'Twitter' feed to provide real-time updates of outages on the WPR network. Please contact us if you do not see the outage you are experiencing listed here.
