Wyoming Prepares For New Mexico Bowl

The Wyoming Cowboys football team is scaling back its practices as the Pokes get ready for the New Mexico Bowl.  Wyoming’s opponent Temple, is one of the better running teams in the country. 

Wyoming Linebacker Brian Hendricks says the Cowboys have faced a number of good running backs this year, but few teams who are committed to running the ball as much as the Owls.

“Up front they have great size.  Probably some of the biggest linemen we have seen all season.   So, we are gonna have our hands full there.  Our front guys are going to have to really play well to stop the run against these guys.  Also their speed, with running backs as well as quarterbacks, they can both run.  So, we are going to have to focus on shutting down the run first and try and manufacture some turnovers like we have been doing all season.”

Hendricks says Temple tries to wear teams down with ball control, so he says it will be important for Wyoming’s offense to also be able to have sustained drives.  Kickoff is Saturday at noon.
