Laramie, Wy – Wyoming needs to train more workers for the occupations that are in high demand here. That's one finding of the 2006 Workforce Report. It says there are thousands of vacant positions in the state now.
And some of those job openings require specialized training. Governor Dave Freudenthal says the state is working on this problem by spending more on education. He says offering not only vocational training, but also higher education. Freudenthal says this will also help attract companies to the state because they want workers with an education not just warm bodies. He says companies specifically ask about the availability of chemists and where they could hire them.
The Workforce Report says to improve stability Wyoming needs to develop a more diverse economy because right now the state relies heavily on a small number of industries.
