Powell, WY – The president of Northwest College in Powell worries that his school would be shortchanged by a change in how much state money goes to Wyoming community college. The formula administered by the Wyoming Community College Commission figures funding for each college based on a number of factors, including square footage of campus buildings. But some members of the commission want to remove auxiliary campus buildings, like residence halls, from the square footage calculations. Northwest President Miles LaRowe is opposing the possible change. Northwest College is near the top among Wyoming's seven community colleges in residence hall capacity.
