Mead calls for studying healthcare during State of the State address

Governor Matt Mead is urging legislators not to dismiss health care issues, but to study them and craft a Wyoming response to the Affordable Care Act.  During his state of the state message today, Mead asked legislators to study both the health insurance exchange and Medicaid expansion. 

“In other words let us try within the law that is upon us to find the best deal, the best fit for Wyoming," Mead said. "To do nothing puts the full brunt of the ACA upon us. Everything will be dictated by the federal government without an opportunity to tailor the law to our needs.”

The governor says the federal government will allow states to implement the A-C-A in the manner that works best for them.  He calls this an opportunity for innovation.
