Hathaway Scholarship Will Impact Financial Aid

Laramie, Wy – The Hathaway Scholarship is freeing-up money that will benefit a broad range of students. University of Wyoming administrators have expanded other scholarship programs since the Hathaway went into effect last year. Vice President of Student Affairs Sara Axelson says one of those scholarships is for students who were NOT near the top of their class in high school, but who work hard once they get to the University.

Aid Money on the Way for Ranchers?

Laramie, Wy – A farm disaster aid proposal is moving forward in Congress.
A Senate committee in Washington has approved more than four billion-dollars for farmers and ranchers who have suffered losses due to weather.
It's part of a bill that would finance the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and call on President Bush to pull combat troops out of
Iraq by next spring.
It's still unclear if President Bush will sign it. The White House has threatened to veto the House measure.

Gillete Law Enforcement Officer Arrested in SD

Laramie, Wy – A Gillette sheriff's captain faces charges for drinking and driving in Deadwood, South Dakota.
Captain Roy Seeman was picked up by the Deadwood police two weekends ago according to both police records and Seeman himself.
Seeman and Sheriff Bill Pownall are not commenting on the specifics of the case.
Seeman does say he is worried how this will reflect on the department and other officers.
"This is an embarrassing situation for me personally and professionally," Seeman says.

Wyomingite Works to Help Wounded Soldiers

Laramie, Wy – A Wyoming woman who's son fought in the
Iraq war is trying to improve conditions at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
Laura Brown is leading a drive to provide laptops to injured soldiers through a group she created called "Laptops for the Wounded."
The group's objective is to help injured soldiers communicate with relatives and others through e-mails and web cameras attached to the laptops.
