Representative Olsen In Hospital

Pinedale, Wy – Wyoming State Representative Monte Olsen
remains in an Idaho hospital. Meanwhile, his wife was charged today
(Monday) with reckless endangering for allegedly running over the
Daniel Republican with a Suburban.
It happened Saturday night. That's when the Sublette County
Sheriff's Department got a call about a domestic disturbance.
In court documents, Deputy Nathen Gortemaker said he arrived on
the scene to find the 50-year-old Olsen pinned underneath the
Suburban.

Thomas Thinks Grizzly Ruling Will Stick

Laramie, Wy – Senator Craig Thomas is pleased that Grizzly Bears are being removed from the endangered species list and he is not worried that lawsuits will overturn that decision. Thomas says objectives have been met and despite possible legal action, he believes the decision to delist Grizzlies will stand. He says they will be best managed by states. Conservation groups worry that the delisting means more drilling and other activities will be allowed in grizzly habitat. They also say that Grizzly habitat is be reduced because of global warming.

Fremont Deaths Skyrocket

Lander, Wy – The Fremont County coroner is seeking more
funding to keep pace with the county's high death rate from
accidents, homicides and suicides.
Ed McAuslan is Fremont County Coroner. He recently submitted a
report to county commissioners saying that the county's homicide
and suicide rates are more than four times the national average.
And he says the county's accidental death rate is more than twice
the national average.

Democrats Add New Chairman

Casper, Wy – The Wyoming Democratic Party has elected a
new chairman. Democrats met Saturday in Casper, where they chose Cheyenne
ophthalmologist Doctor John Millin to be party chairman. Millin has been serving as party treasurer, and is the husband
of Cheyenne state Representative Lori Millin. He says he's been
planning to run for chairman for some time, and that Mike Gierau's
arrest in March on a D-U-I charge had nothing to do with his decision to run.
