Cell phones are a challenge for schools.

Wyoming – Earlier this year we reported on the challenge school districts face in creating policies for cell phone use. We heard that most schools allow them but they are supposed to be off during class time. But that is not always what happens. Wyoming Public Radio's Renny MacKay spoke to teachers and students about what it's really like in the classroom.

Eaton execution delayed

Cheyenne, Wy – A federal judge has granted a request from Wyoming's lone death row inmate to delay his scheduled execution. U-S District Judge Alan Johnson of Cheyenne on Thursday granted a request from lawyers representing inmate Dale Wayne Eaton to stay
his scheduled Feb. 12 execution date pending a review of his case
in federal court.
Eaton received a death penalty sentence for the 1988 rape and
murder of 18-year-old Lisa Marie Kimmell of Billings, Mont., who
disappeared while driving from Denver to Cody.

Sinclair hopes to reopen this week.

Rawlins, Wy – Production still has not been restored at the Sinclair oil refinery in Carbon County, more than a week after the facility was shut down by a power outage.
An external power failure on Dec. 6 interrupted refinery
operations and led to a release of hydrogen sulfide gas. According
to state and federal records, it was the 14th reportable spill or
toxic release at the refinery so far this year.
There have been no reports of injuries or illnesses because of
the spills.

Colorado company gets NCAR project

Boulder, Co – The National Center for Atmospheric Research has selected a Colorado company to work on a supercomputing facility west of Cheyenne and potentially become
general contractor for the project.
Boulder, Colo.-based NCAR has awarded a $70,000 contract to
review the project's final design to Denver-based Saunders
Construction, Inc.
Project director Krista Laursen says the company was chosen
after a three-month process in which NCAR winnowed the pool of
candidates from about 30 to four.
